Welcome to the Citizens Space Policy Initiative.
The purpose of this initiative is to connect and directly engage the general public, all over the world, with the future of space.

Confronting widespread alienation and a sense of disconnection and disenfranchisement, we invite citizens to share their aspirations and priorities – transforming them into actionable goals. and a vision for the future. In doing so, we aim to reverse the self-fulfilling cycle that erodes both public interest and public benefit, and to build a future where space truly belongs to everyone.

These first questions are mostly optional and just about getting to know you. The only one required is a valid email.

Answers help us evaluate whether or not we’re hearing from a wide variety of people all over the world, or just a narrow set of voices. We appreciate your answers where you feel comfortable.

What Do You Want?

This the most important part of our survey. It’s where you tell us (hopefully) what you want the future to look like and what you think should be done (right now) to make it happen.

We framed it like this (starting with the future and working backwards) because we think it makes the questions more accessible and the answers more open.

Let’s start the exercise by trying to imagine a better future. What does society look like, and what would be an ideal future for humanity? In that world, describe humanity’s relationship with space. What role does it play in our everyday lives? To what extent do we exist in or interact with it? And how do we interact with each other? Feel free to be as wild and imaginative as you like.
Now let’s bring it back to the present. Consider the world we now live in, with all its challenges and complexities. What steps should businesses, governments and other actors be taking right now in order to make that vision a reality? What are the first steps? What are the problems that need to be addressed? And what are the relationships that need to be built? Consider again what role space currently plays in your part of the world. Feel free to be as ambitious and detailed as you like.

We want to hear real voices and real visions for the future, as well as meet the real people behind them. If you’re feeling up to it, you can submit your responses to our questions as a video clip. Perhaps you’ll help inspire others to do the same. Feel free to record it however (or wherever) you like. *Please Note: File types are limited to .mpg, .mov and .wmv and sizes are limited to 1.2gb (roughly equivalent to 10 minutes at 30fps and 1080p recorded on a standard smartphone).
